Ladies and Gentlemen – here comes BRR002 – blankton recordings release #2!
KOENIGLEOPOLD, the new shootingstars (see also here) of the austrian independent music scene caused quite a fuzz this year when they mentioned a local butcher in one of their songs who didn’t really appreciate this sort of namedropping and called upon the media for help.
The following yellow press hysteria gained a lot of attention for the band, but also distracted from their creative potential. Hailing from very diverse backgrounds such as free jazz, elektro and schlager (yes), this excellent live-band is now shortening the wait for their album debut with a quick set of remixes.
With “Hole Dig Ocean”, hence the malapropism derived from the original south-east-styrian dialect lyrics, labelowner Michael Lachsteiner aka MIKKA BLANK delivers a solid electro-piece with a touch of dub and industrial flavours while omitting the notorious butcher-namedropping…
“Schnelles Geld” on the other hand comes from up-and-coming viennese producer BERGMANN, known for his outstanding DJ-Skills, and provides an excellent floorburner with dubsteppy feel – this mix won over more than a hundred entries in the RADIO FM4 SOUNDPARK REMIX COMPETITION for KOENIGLEOPOLD this year!
Meanwhile the band has been touring extensively through all of europe, especially Ireland, Germany, the Czech Republc and – tadaam! – played four gigs in a row in Japan. All gigs so far gained enthusiastic reactions from the crowd and the media alike. Go see them live, if you have the chance!
So please listen, enjoy and buy! We hope you find the experience pleasant.
